Coastal Location
Introduction
The practice were commissioned for the creation of a home away from home. A special place to spend time with family in a coastal location, surrounding by sea, sand and the slow life. Attention to detail was paramount to the project and flows through the spatial organisation, to the materials the building is coated in.
Project
The proejct contains a bedroom, a sitting room and kitchen. Designed around a central hearth, the external materials reflect the setting, allowing sand blown across the site to stick to the building, glimmering in the evening sun. Furniture and cabinetry are bespoke to the space, using a pallette of light and dark materials and natural textures to best create an atmosphere of warmth and isolation at night while allowing the building to open out and breathe by day.
